yuletide 2017 letter
Dear Yuletide writer,
Hello, and thank you! This is my first year doing Yuletide and I'm glad that you wanted to write for one of my fandoms; I love each one of them and I'm always happy to know that someone else out there likes them, too! I hope that you have fun writing, and I can't wait to see whatever you create.

General DNWs: bad/sad/bittersweet endings, deathfic, pregnancy/kidfic, oppression or bigotry as a major plot point, mundane AUs (high school, coffee shop, etc. - fine as part of the canon if applicable, but not as an AU, please!), scat/vomit, infantilization, forced feminization, unrequested dub/noncon, detailed gore.
General Preferences
Things I enjoy a lot:
- Adventures and conflict! Characters getting into trouble, getting out of trouble, or trouble finding them. Mission/case fic or the like, a problem that needs to be solved, things where there's a full event arc are all great! (But of course ODAO!) I love stories with plot, so if there's something you want to run with, feel free to go for it!
- Shippy things! I'm thirsty, aren't we all? I prefer a focus on emotional dynamics over sexual content, but sex is fine too as long as it's not only PWP. In that vein, I also really enjoy affection that's shown rather than told - characters expressing their feelings through actions rather than straight out confessions gets to me way more. I'm a huge fan of hurt/comfort, especially for my less SOL fandoms, too.
Things I don't enjoy as much:
- Tons of introspection and character study without anything else going on in the story
- Heavy angst based on dumb misunderstandings, unrequited pining, and hopeless endings
- Stories that just retell a canon scene
- While I'm happy to see any other characters from my fandoms show up if you're so inclined, I'd prefer that the focus remain on the characters I've requested, and that those characters not be shipped with anyone else if you go for a gen fic, thank you!
Individual Fandom Preferences
Granblue Fantasy - Cain, Reinhardtzar (transcripts & youtube links)
As allies, as enemies, as lovers - anything where there's a good sense of their dynamic, the way they're both clever, insightful, and competent, and use that to see through each other. Something in canon would be fantastic, but feel free to make up some sort of mission for them to go on, or something divergent from canon if the fancy strikes you! I'd love AU or divergent things like Cain and Reinhardtzar knowing each other before canon happens with their connection through Abel, or something where their roles are switched — anything that you feel excited about writing.
Tsukiuta - Mutsuki Hajime, Shimotsuki Shun (available on Funimation)
I love the strange intersection of Shun, the (probably) actual demon king and the human idol he's fallen for, and the bizarre supernatural stuff that comes about from that. Give me anything that has the fantastical intruding on the mundane! A few ideas might be another demon coming to see what's got Shun slumming in the human world, Hajime having to navigate his own responsibility-laden life with the weird occult things intruding on top of that, even some kind of fairy tale type thing where Hajime has to brave the supernatural world for Shun's sake for some reason — whatever sounds fun to you! The one thing I will request is that Hajime return Shun's feelings if you go for a shippy fic; I firmly believe that he does like Shun a great deal in canon even if the way he shows it is subtle and understated, and I have no interest in unrequited love.
Bravely Second - Janne Angard, Yew Geneolgia (demo and full game LPs)
There's so, so much I love about their relationship in canon; it's easily one of the strongest arcs in the game for both of them, and anything focusing on that would be wonderful. I'm especially fond of shippy things for this pair, and I love the complexities of their dynamic - the way that Yew relies upon and so whole-heartedly believes in Janne, how Janne's desire for revenge colors his motivations, how Yew was the only person who ever made him waver in that vengeance even though by all rights, Janne should have hated him. And, of course, that through it all, even with all the betrayal and the history of their families between them, they are true friends. Be it getting into trouble during their school days at Al Khampis or something set after the game where they're learning how to fit into their friendship (or more) again, I'd be super happy to have that complicated dynamic at the heart of the story and woven into the plot.
Finally,
And finally, while I've given some suggestions and bouncing-off points and ideas that I hope will make writing a story easier, the most important thing to me is that you, the writer, are excited about writing the story. Ultimately, these are only suggestions — the kinds of things I enjoy, but by far not the only things. If an idea strikes you and you want to write it, then write it! Anything that you feel excited about writing, I guarantee that I'll be excited about, too!
